Jo has been working in Design, Communications and Media industries for close to 30 years. She has built communities of readers, members or users for major publishers (Murdoch, Bauer etc), organisations and associations, established and startup companies in UK, Australia and New Zealand.
The Angel Association of New Zealand, Ministry of Education, Ed.Collective, Enterprise Angels, are among her current clients.
Jo is a co-founder of Venture Centre, and its collaborative workspace Basestation. She co-led the organisation of Tauranga’s biggest business startup event to date, Tauranga Startup Weekend 2014 and the workshops and programmes that Venture Centre provides to help people continue their enterprising journey's.
Jo’s skillset is in building collectives and co-ordinating communications which create community in both private and public settings.
She is specialist at aligning the complex and numerous activities of multiple descreet parties to achieve shared goals and has a comprehensive toolset to enable collectives to take the steps to achieve those goals. She also has a deep understanding of community service and a passion for inclusive, open civic participation and brings this mindset to the VentureCentre and Basestation teams.
