Techweek inspired blog with June Chong from TechnologyWise
As it is Techweek this week; Aotearoa’s festival for tech that’s good for the world - we thought it would be a good excuse to catch up with some of our residents in the technology sector at Basestation. World Wide Web Day
1st August is World Wide Web Day, the day is observed to commemorate the World Wide Web (www) and its impact on the world. As one of our meeting rooms is named after Sir Tim Berners-Lee (the founder of the web), it felt fitting that we should honor the day with a blog about him and the massive impact the creation of the World Wide Web has had!

Monday 16th September marks the start of National Coding Week. Now in its 11th year, this week sets out to inspire individuals of all ages to learn and embrace coding skills.
Open Source Month
As February is Open Source Month, we decided this would be a great excuse to look into the life and work of Linus Torvalds. This Finnish/Swiss software engineer has made a HUGE contribution to the Open Source community - and he is also the namesake for one of our meeting rooms!

Charities at Basestation – STEM Wana
International residents - Michael Doerner
We are fortunate that Basestation attracts people from all over the world. This diversity contributes to the inclusive and vibrant culture we strive to foster in our coworking space.
Basestation was founded by three immigrants and one Kiwi! One of those immigrants was Michael Doerner, who originally hails from Germany. We realised we were well overdue to sit down with Michael and talk about what motivated him and his whānau to relocate to the other side of the world.
