Design File Requirements (refer file types below)

Resident Organisation Logos

  • Static - vector file: .svg (ideally) and/or .eps (otherwise a large/high-res .jpg or .png file)
  • Dynamic - transparent .png file (ideally) in light and dark versions
  • Landscape and portrait versions if available

 Event Promotion Content

  • Single .jpg file for the required location, at resolution specified above
  • For multi-location/channel and digital signage display, please discuss options for using our content software at www.flexitive.com

Multi-channel Platform

We use www.flexitive.com to generate exportable multi-channel static (digital and printed), and live (multi-resolution) digital signage content feeds from a single source.

If your content is going to be used regularly at Basestation we prefer the following approach to allow us to build it in Flexitive:

  1. Provide us with an image (eg jpg or pdf) of the final product, for each of the resolutions required - this gives us something to build to.
  2. Provide us with each of the core elements of the design in transparent .png and include (where applicable);
    • Background colour
    • Web font used (for text) or provide the completed text as a scalable image
    • Graphical elements as scalable.

If you would like to understand more about how we build in Flexitive, an initial intro video.

File Types

File Type Format Type Use Case Minimum Resolution (px) Minimum File Size Vector / Path Compatibility Notes for Plotter Conversion
SVG (.svg) Vector Best for cutting; paths already defined N/A (resolution-independent) < 1 MB typical ✅ Native vector Ideal for direct use — paths are editable, scalable, no pixelation
EPS (.eps) Vector Professional logos / artwork N/A < 2 MB typical ✅ Native vector Converts cleanly to DXF or HPGL for cutters
PDF (.pdf) Vector or Raster Mixed content (vector + raster) 1000×1000 px (if raster) 200 KB – 2 MB ⚠️ Often contains vectors Check that it’s “press-quality” or “outlined” before importing
AI (.ai) Vector Adobe Illustrator source file N/A < 10 MB typical ✅ Native vector Must be exported to SVG or EPS for most plotters
DXF (.dxf) Vector CAD CNC and vinyl cutting N/A < 5 MB ✅ Native vector Directly compatible with most cutters
PNG (.png) Raster Clean artwork / logos ≥ 1000 × 1000 px ≥ 300 KB ⚠️ Requires tracing High-contrast black-and-white images trace well; avoid gradients
JPG (.jpg) Raster Photos or flattened logos ≥ 1500 × 1500 px ≥ 500 KB ⚠️ Requires tracing Use only for simple silhouettes; lossy compression affects edge accuracy
BMP (.bmp) Raster Line art / scanned drawings ≥ 1000 × 1000 px ≥ 1 MB ⚠️ Requires tracing Large file size; clean edges but inefficient for storage
TIFF (.tif) Raster High-quality scans ≥ 2000 × 2000 px ≥ 2 MB ⚠️ Requires tracing Preserves detail for tracing; supports layers and transparency
WEBP (.webp) Raster Web-optimized images ≥ 1000 × 1000 px ≥ 250 KB ⚠️ Requires tracing Avoid unless no other format available; not ideal for cutters
