Corporate Social Responsibility at Basestation: Repair Cafe

As part of Basestation’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) we sponsor or offer in-kind support to initiatives, events or groups that align with our kaupapa. One of the groups we sponsor on a regular basis is Tauranga Repair Café organised by Tinkd Makerspace.

Repair Cafés are a global movement that looks to fix domestic items so that they can be saved from being thrown into landfill.

Charities at Basestation – STEM Wana

With STEMFest just around the corner (the 28th September to be more precise!) — we thought this would be a great opportunity to take a closer look at STEM Wana, the charitable organisation behind STEMFest, and also a resident here at Basestation.

A Day in the Life of Basestation

Basestation awakes early on a weekday.

The first bit of action it sees is at 6:30am when Folk, the café in our reception, opens. For those early risers who work in the surrounding offices, grabbing a flat white and croissant is a great way to start the day.

International residents - Michael Doerner

We are fortunate that Basestation attracts people from all over the world. This diversity contributes to the inclusive and vibrant culture we strive to foster in our coworking space.

Basestation was founded by three immigrants and one Kiwi! One of those immigrants was Michael Doerner, who originally hails from Germany. We realised we were well overdue to sit down with Michael and talk about what motivated him and his whānau to relocate to the other side of the world.
