Coworking is more than just a desk and some WiFi. At Basestation, there are a broad range of added bonuses, perks and reasons why you should try coworking with us.

Creature comforts
Let’s start by looking at the essentials and what to expect from coworking at Basestation:

Desk
Our hot desks are located in our open plan space and they are a generous size of 1500 x 750mm and slightly bigger at 1800 x 800mm in our single offices. They have been custom built from wood to fit with the Basestation aesthetics. Our available hot desks are identified by an ‘old school’ phone on them. We also have a number of standing/sitting desks available for residents to use.

Chair
All our chairs are high quality and ergonomic with the ability to easily adjust to make it comfortable for use all day.

Wi-Fi
We provide high speed Wi-Fi to all our residents - if you hot desk with us we will give you a voucher for the day.

Kitchen In our modern kitchens we provide the usual tea and coffee for you to help yourself to, we also provide spread, peanut butter (so if you BYO bread - you’ve got breakfast sorted!), fresh fruit, snacks, all the milks (cow, almond, soy and oat!) We have two fully equipped kitchens each with a microwave, fridge, toaster and panini maker for our residents to use.

Bikes and electric scooter storage
To encourage our residents to reduce their carbon footprint when commuting to work, we also provide access to our garage where they can safely store their bike or eScooter.

Showers
Once you’ve cycled in, you will probably want a shower! We have a shower for our residents to use, we provide a towel service as well as complimentary toiletries.

Green tick
Being more sustainable and conscientious of our carbon footprint is no longer a ‘nice to have’ it's a must have. Here are some of the ways Basestation and its residents keep this in check:

Green bins and worm farm
We have recycling bins throughout our office, we also have a worm food bin in each of our kitchens to reduce food waste.

Lights that are motion sensor and LED bulbs
Almost all our lights at Basestation are motion sensored, this means that they turn themselves off if they don’t detect movement in space after a while. Where possible we also have LED light bulbs, this makes them more energy efficient and longer lasting.

Aircon units in each room
All our meeting rooms and offices have aircon units installed in them. They can be controlled by the occupier (i.e. they don’t turn on automatically or are set on a timer). This means that if no one is using the space - it is not turned on, therefore not wasting energy.

Central location
Being located in the heart of Tauranga, the large majority of bus routes and cycle lanes are close by, making it easier for our residents to leave the car at home and get to work via bus or bike.

Community and connection included
Community and connection is at the heart of what we do, it’s actually part of our mission: To provide a space to help build communities and relationships to support professional collaboration and personal growth.

Monthly shared lunch and breakfast
On the second Thursday of the month we provide lunch for all our residents, this is always a popular social event, an opportunity for our residents to connect with one another over some yummy kai. On the last Thursday of the month, for the early birds, we host a breakfast club, a chance for residents to enjoy a coffee from Folk and a croissant or muffin.

Courtyard and kitchen space
We have created welcoming community spaces for our residents to make a drink or eat their lunch and catch up with other coworkers. Our two kitchen spaces are areas where residents can enjoy those ‘water cooler’ conversations and get to know one another. In the warmer months our private enclosed courtyard with outside furniture and sun umbrellas is a hot spot for alfresco lunch and kōrero.

Folk Coffee
We are blessed with having Tauranga's best (in our opinion!) coffee shop in our building! Not only can you get a stand out coffee but there’s always a good vibe and banter with the team that work there. A great place for a coffee and catch up.

Coffee Chats
Something we’ve recently introduce for our permanent residents. They can sign up to be paired randomly with another Basestation resident for a coffee catch up. We provide them a voucher for a coffee at Folk and the rest is up to them. This is another great way for our residents to get to know one another.

Social events
Over the year Basestation hosts a number of social events, this includes events like a quiz night, taking part in the local Everest Challenge, volunteering with some of our resident charities or the annual Christmas Party. We try to mix it up a bit and make sure there’s something for everyone.

Professional look
If you are running your own business or working fully remote from the rest of your team in other cities/countries, Basestation provides that professional vibe.

Mailing address
When you sign up as a resident with Basestation you can use our PO box for company mail providing a secure and professional address.

Signage
We have signage around the building for our residents including digital signage on the ground floor, logo signage in our reception space and at the front of the building. For residents with an office, they can have signage on their office door.

Meeting rooms
Residents have access to our five meeting rooms plus a discount for our event space in the basement. This is great if you need to jump on a confidential call, meet with a customer, have a team meeting, or host an event.

If this is sounding like something you’d like to be a part of - come and visit us for a tour and talk. We are at 148 Durham Street, Tauranga. Our hours are 8:30am - 5:00pm Monday to Friday. We hold an Open Day on the second Thursday of every month, this means if you’ve never hot desked with us before you can try it out for FREE.
