Today is Ada Lovelace Day (ALD), an international celebration of the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). It aims to increase the profile of women in STEM and, in doing so, create new role models who will encourage more girls into STEM careers and support women already working in STEM.

For this year's IWD blog we sat down with Stacey Canham from Egis, she has been part of the Basestation whānau since July 2023. She works in one of the larger offices on our first floor alongside the rest of the Tauranga Egis team.  

As it’s the start of Techweek this week; Aotearoa’s festival for tech that’s good for the world - we thought it would be a good excuse to catch up with some of our residents in the technology sector at Basestation. One of the longest standing companies here is TechnologyWise, we sat down to kōrero with Randal Hyde, one of the technologists on the team.  

With STEMFest just around the corner (the 28th September to be more precise!) — we thought this would be a great opportunity to take a closer look at STEM Wana, the charitable organisation behind STEMFest, and also a resident here at Basestation.

As we start a new year, it’s a good opportunity to reflect on our impact and the mahi we’ve done over the last 12 months.

By nature, coworking spaces see people come and go - all for different reasons. One thing we strive to keep constant is a welcoming, inclusive community centred on connection. Alongside this, we’ve implemented a number of sustainable practices and remain committed to supporting and championing our wider community. Below, we reflect on some of the impacts these initiatives have had over the past year.
