To celebrate this milestone, we’ve created a timeline that captures the journey of Basestation, from our humble beginnings in 2014 to the vibrant coworking community we’ve become today.

Over the past eleven years, we’ve seen incredible growth, welcomed countless residents, hosted inspiring events, and watched Tauranga’s startup and creative ecosystems flourish. Each milestone on this timeline represents not just what we’ve built, but the people, ideas, and collaborations that make Basestation what it is.

Running a small business is exciting, but let’s be honest, it also comes with its fair share of challenges. At Basestation, we want to make sure that finding an affordable office space, managing overheads, juggling flexibility, and staying connected to others isn’t a challenge! Coworking offers small businesses the best of both worlds; a professional environment with built-in community, flexibility, and shared resources that make day-to-day operations easier and more cost-effective.

Numerous reports cite the many benefits of volunteering, including increased wellbeing, improved mental health, boosted self-confidence and self-esteem, and greater life satisfaction, and that’s just on a personal level!

In recognition of this, we wanted to showcase how residents at Basestation support charitable organisations by volunteering their time and skills.

Get ready to score some serious style points! Basestation is thrilled to unveil our very own line of Varsity T-shirts (because who doesn’t want to look like they just aced their finals from the University of Basestation?).

We are fortunate that Basestation attracts people from all over the world. This diversity contributes to the inclusive and vibrant culture we strive to foster in our coworking space.

Basestation was founded by three immigrants and one Kiwi! One of those immigrants was Michael Doerner, who originally hails from Germany. We realised we were well overdue to sit down with Michael and talk about what motivated him and his whānau to relocate to the other side of the world.

Part of the human condition is to be social and find connection and belonging. 

With remote working on the rise, more people are looking to join a coworking space so they can connect with others on a regular basis rather than just working from home.
