I'm Rachel and I've been with the Basestation community since February 2017.
I work with the Ākina Foundation who is growing social enterprise across the country and Ngāti Pūkenga, a local Iwi who have developed a unique entrepreneurship programme called Business in a Box.
I am a small team of one here in Tauranga so do travel to see my Ākina colleagues around the country regularly.
Before I was lured to Basestation with promises of avocados and epic coffee I was working from home as I'd just returned to work after maternity leave.
Having been off for over a year I was keen to get connected with the world again and was uninspired working from home.
I chose Basestation because the vision is bigger than providing top notch facilities and space for people to work from; it is about making Tauranga a connected, collaborative and prosperous city.
Once people connect and talk about all the possibilities to make our world a better place the magic happens!!
I'm really excited to be part of a community that is leading on developing infrastructure and programmes to help our young people, businesses and entrepreneurs understand and take advantage of rapidly evolving digital technologies – this work is so important for the future of our communities.
