Moving to any new location is always a challenge, especially if you don’t have a large office with an established group of colleagues to go to during your working hours. Often it’s through work we forge our first friendships and start to cultivate social engagements.
Basestation is home to several residents who’ve relocated to Tauranga and use our space as a satellite office. For larger corporates, this offers a hassle-free solution: instead of sourcing a separate office and dealing with setup and maintenance costs, their team can simply arrive, plug in, and start working — without the burden of managing another office.
We also have a number of small business owners, freelancers and contractors who want to get out of the home office every once in a while and rent a desk or office space for the day. Being in a space where others are working and being productive is a good motivator. It also means you don’t have distractions like housework, when you are out of the home office.
Building community and ensuring our residents feel welcome and included is also really important for us at Basestation. We host monthly shared lunches for residents, giving them a chance to reconnect with each other and meet newer faces.
We also have Coffee Chats which residents can sign up to: Every other month, those that have signed up are automatically matched up with someone else. They then arrange a time to catch up for a coffee (which is on us)!
We’ve had new residents who’ve tried us out for the day comment on ‘how friendly people are’ - which always fills us with pride and warm fuzzies!
If you are also new to the area and are looking for somewhere to connect with others in a professional setting, why not come and check us out.
You can find us at 148 Durham Street, Tauranga - we are open Monday - Friday from 8:30am - 5pm. On the second Tuesday of each month we have an Open Day, meaning, if you’ve never used our space before, you can come and hot desk with us for free.
