It’s our 11th birthday on 6th November 2025!

To celebrate this milestone, we’ve created a timeline that captures the journey of Basestation — from our humble beginnings in 2014 to the vibrant coworking community we’ve become today.

Over the past eleven years, we’ve seen incredible growth, welcomed countless residents, hosted inspiring events, and watched Tauranga’s startup and creative ecosystems flourish. Each milestone on this timeline represents not just what we’ve built, but the people, ideas, and collaborations that make Basestation what it is.

Here’s to celebrating where we’ve come from, and looking forward to what’s next!

With STEMFest just around the corner (the 28th September to be more precise!) — we thought this would be a great opportunity to take a closer look at STEM Wana, the charitable organisation behind STEMFest, and also a resident here at Basestation.

One of the recipients of Basestation’s recent FREE OFFICE SPACE for Community Heroes is the small but mighty team at Spectrum Connections Charitable Trust. Since moving in at the end of July, co-founders Mary-Jane Du Toit and Rachel Crump have quickly become familiar faces within the Basestation community.

It wasn’t until I sat down with Mary-Jane (better known as MJ), and heard her personal story of what inspired Spectrum Connection, that I truly grasped the passion and impact driving the mahi they do.

We would love to introduce you to Ben Thomson, who works for Lumen. Ben’s been with Basestation for a while now, so we thought it was high time we did a Resident Shout Out with him! 

As school holidays have just kicked off, we thought now would be a good time to sit down with one of our parents and resident of Basestation, to talk to them about how they judge their childcare and parenting alongside a professional career.
